Sensitest Menopause – home FSH urine test
When the test is useful
Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation. It is usually confirmed only after one full year has passed since the last menstrual period. The period before menopause and the following 12 months is referred to as perimenopause.
During this period, symptoms may include hot flashes, irregular menstrual cycles, sleep disorders, vaginal dryness, hair loss, anxiety, mood swings, short-term memory problems, or fatigue.
As estrogen production declines, the body may increase production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This test is intended for the qualitative detection of elevated FSH in urine to aid in the detection of menopause.
The test is intended for in vitro home self-testing. The result is indicative only and does not replace medical examination or physician confirmation of menopause.

When to test
If you still have regular menstrual periods
Perform the first test during the first week of your menstrual cycle, that is between days 2 and 7. Day 1 is the first day of menstruation. If the result is negative but symptoms persist, repeat the second test one week later.
If you no longer have regular periods
You may perform the test at any time during the month and repeat the second test one week later.
First morning urine is preferred because it usually contains the highest concentration of FSH. However, urine collected at any time of the day may also be used.
Easy to use
Before testing, allow the test cassette and urine sample to reach room temperature of 15 to 30 °C.
- Choose the correct testing day according to your menstrual cycle.
- Open the foil pouch at room temperature, remove the test cassette, and use it immediately, within 1 hour.
- Place the cassette on a clean and level surface.
- Hold the dropper vertically and add 3 drops of urine into the sample well marked S. Avoid trapping air bubbles.
- Start the timer. Read the result at 3 minutes and no later than 10 minutes.
Result interpretation
- Positive result: two lines are visible and the T test line is the same intensity as or darker than the C control line. This means the FSH level is elevated.
- Negative result: two lines are visible, but the T line is lighter than the C line, or the T line does not appear. This means the FSH level is not elevated at this time.
- Invalid result: the C control line does not appear. This may be caused by insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedure. Repeat the test with a new cassette.

For women with premenopausal symptoms and irregular menstrual cycles

Performance characteristics
According to the manufacturer's clinical evaluation, the FSH Rapid Test Cassette was compared with another commercially available urine FSH test using 250 urine specimens. Both assays identified 85 positive and 165 negative results.

Important warnings
- The test is intended for single use only. Do not use it after the expiry date or if the pouch is damaged.
- Hormonal therapy, recent use of hormonal contraception, breastfeeding, pregnancy, and other conditions affecting hormonal balance may influence the test result.
- The test may produce false positive or false negative results. Consult your doctor before making health-related decisions.
- If the result is invalid or if there are problems performing the test, use a new test cassette and follow the enclosed instructions.
