Reagen HCV – rapid hepatitis C test / HBsAg-HCV Combo Rapid Test Kit
When the test is useful
Hepatitis C virus is an important blood-borne infection and may lead to both acute and chronic hepatitis. Antibodies against HCV indicate contact of the body with the virus, and the test can serve as a rapid screening aid when possible infection is suspected.
HBsAg/HCV Combo Rapid Test Kit is a qualitative immunochromatographic assay intended for detection of hepatitis B surface antigen and antibodies against hepatitis C virus in whole blood, serum or plasma. The result can be read in about 10 minutes.
The test is intended for professional in vitro diagnostic use. The result must not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis and should be interpreted together with clinical symptoms and other laboratory findings.
The test is suitable for rapid screening of hepatitis C and, at the same time, hepatitis B surface antigen in whole blood, serum or plasma.
  • When contact with infectious blood or blood derivatives is suspected.
  • As a screening test after risk behaviour, for example after use of non-sterile needles or other blood exposure.
  • For simultaneous assessment of a hepatitis B marker and antibodies against hepatitis C in one test.
  • As a supplementary examination before confirmation by other laboratory methods.
Main benefits
  • Simultaneous detection of HBsAg and antibodies against HCV in one test.
  • Rapid result in about 10 minutes.
  • Whole blood, serum and plasma can be used.
  • Simple visual evaluation using control and test lines.
  • The control line verifies the correct specimen volume and proper test flow.
Easy to use
  • Remove the test card from the pouch and place it on a clean, level surface.
  • For serum or plasma, apply 3 drops of specimen into the S well.
  • For whole blood, apply 1 drop of specimen into the S well and then add 2 drops of Sample Diluent Buffer.
  • Wait for the coloured lines to appear.
  • Read the result at 10 minutes; do not interpret after 20 minutes.
Warning: Tthe test is intended for professional use. A negative result does not exclude early infection or a low analyte level, and a positive finding requires laboratory confirmation.
Kit contents
The test kit contains everything needed for the examination:
  • test card,
  • Sample Diluent Buffer,
  • alcohol pad,
  • dropper,
  • sterile lancet,
  • instructions for use.
Clinical performance
The test is a qualitative membrane immunoassay intended for detection of HBsAg and antibodies against HCV in whole blood, serum or plasma samples. In the provided instructions, the manufacturer does not state separate numerical sensitivity or specificity values, but reports no cross-reactivity with selected positive samples and no adverse effect of the listed interfering substances at the tested concentrations.
Parameter Value
Measured parameter Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and antibodies against HCV
Sensitivity The manufacturer does not state a separate percentage value
Specificity The manufacturer does not state a separate percentage value
Read time Read the result at 10 minutes; do not interpret after 20 minutes
Storage
  • Store the kit at 2 to 30 °C away from direct sunlight.
  • The product shelf life is 24 months.
  • After opening the foil pouch, the test card should be used as soon as possible, within 1 hour.
  • Specimens and test materials must be returned to room temperature before use.
Additional information
The test is intended for whole blood, serum and plasma; it cannot determine a quantitative value of the markers.
A negative result does not rule out recent infection or a low concentration of HBsAg or anti-HCV antibodies in the specimen.
Results should always be interpreted together with clinical symptoms, medical history and other laboratory examinations.
